Easily one of best all round, addictive games you will ever play. You will have to pay attention to that R18 rating however for children under the age. That rating is actually one of the reasons why I dragged my feet to review this game as I was cautious about what I was endorsing here. I will make it clear that it is the gameplay, concepts, ability to tell a story line and free will to chose for one’s self, either in free roaming mode or missions, that won me over as there are simply second to none.
The game starts a new story line that has nothing to do with GTA 4, however this time has 3 main characters for you to control and experience, switching between them whenever you see fit. Again, no other game has done this kind of game play where you have 3 main characters who are interwoven into each other with key mission and cut out scenes.
After your mind has adjusted to controlling 3 characters and experiencing their 3 very different worlds, you will begin to walk through a very well plotted movie, yes, not game. You can definitely tell that a team spent a long time working on just the plot alone for the developers to make a reality, especially from the way the game ends and how it all converges. Very well concluded.
Engagement: Game play
If it is not the story line that is keep you glued to the screen every moment of the game, it will be the game play. The map is also quite vast with even more side missions, races – new types as well– and even the main missions. It doesn’t stop there, there are also more guns, more accessories, more vehicles, more police forces, more houses to own and more markets to trade on.
“Unlike the one in call of Duty, those who have been online for a while don’t have too much of an unfair advantage over the new comers…”
When you finish the main story line, the online mini story line and game play is still as addictive as nothing. Unlike the one in call of Duty, those who have been online for a while don’t have too much of an unfair advantage over the new comers and hence I enjoyed it more.
Two discs on the Xbox 360 and one on the Playstation, Grand Theft Auto V feels more and more like real life. The city feels more and more like a city with even an army base to explore, good luck with that but despite the level of difficulty, it is so much fun. I could go on trying to find words and ways to explain how awesome the game play is and how engaging or addictive it is, but nothing will beat just picking up a controller and giving it a go.
Design & Engineering
Everything in the game has been polished even more when compared to GTA 4. Roads, cars, people, skies, sunsets, it all looks amazing. It’s no wonder why the mobile phone in the game had a new camera feature added to it so it can take pictures this environment. It a beautiful world in GTA V, from the hills where the rich and famous live, to the concrete jungle, industrial parks, all the way to the hood.
“…while hardcore fans would have still enjoyed the game if it weren’t as visually impressive.”
This high gloss, eye candy of a world adds an additional WOW factor to an already impressive story line and gameplay. It is the perfect window to view and experience both those things while hardcore fans would have still enjoyed the game if it weren’t as visually impressive.
More impressive is how all the little things come together with the key things in the game to make a ridiculously good game. If you aren’t impressed by how the non-player characters respond to your actions, then it will definitely be everything else in the game.
Grand Theft Auto V
The city of Los Santos is a fantastic representation off Los Angeles, I even found myself marvelling at Little Seoul when I stumbled upon it in the game. I really wanted to see how the team at Rockstar were going to improve upon GTA 4 which was a solid game that set the bar high as well. In GTA V, every single thing imaginable was improved upon, even the in-vehicle radio stations. Definitely some things got more attention than others but I am glad they took their time to deliver GTA V.
When the game ends, you can continue playing the vast map like a big monopoly game and try to own every property there is to own. That is if you can’t or won’t play it’s addictive online gaming experience that I liked and I don’t even play online games that much.

As far as ethical concerns go with regards to the game, I would tend to side that the game should not be treated any differently from how you would Hollywood movies as it is basically an interactive movie. For fans however, you will be glad to know that a new version of GTA V has been released for the new generation consoles, Playstation 4 & Xbox One, that has been remastered for gameplay in first person shooter which makes it worthwhile picking up again from scratch. In the process, Rockstar are sure set to make a tonne more money from the same game title. Grand Theft Auto V is just made better.
