When I saw the Diesel DZ7264 watch for the first time, it was love at first sight. While I do have a special place for the DZ4273, it was quickly toppled from the number 1 spot for the watch I wear daily. The Diesel DZ7264 watch is my when unsure which one to wear, default to this one. This is partly because it matches almost anything I put on, apart from being fairly new.
The Diesel DZ7264 is built like a boss. Excuse me, I couldn’t resist saying that and that’s because it is heads above shoulders made to look impressive. That big bezel sure has a big effect on the look and feel of the watch. The knobs and buttons on it look like they could launch a missile from the watch and I am definitely pleased that they have them on both sides of the watch face.
“Those that do business in the global economy might appreciate this feature too…”
Then there is the crazy detailing inside the watches face. Each time I look at the watch to tell the time, I rediscover the attention to detail that went into this time piece. There so much eye candy in the watch face that the moment you look away from it, you forget all the intricate little details but that just resets you to fully feel the awe you do the next time you look at it.
I am really happy to finally have an analogue watch that you can easily set more than one time zone at once on. Being able to take a glance at the watch and see what time it is in another country or timezone of your choice across the globe, other than the one you in, is mighty handy. For me it was good as I have family members scattered all over the world and could finally stop pulling out my iPhone, unlocking the screen and launching the world clock to get this information. Those that do business in the global economy might appreciate this feature too, for me it just makes it a dearer engagement present.
The only thing about this watch that I am indifferent about, is the side pattern on the watch rim. I feel the watch might have looked better with an all plain, shiny metal look on the faces’ sides but that’s not to say it is ruined either by having a pattern. Other than that I have no gripes with this watch. The colour of the leather band is just the right shade of tanned brown. I couldn’t help wonder what the watch would look like with much higher bezel as it does have a shallower one compared to the DZ4273.
When I first got the Diesel DZ7264 watch, I had been too used to looking at the DZ4273 watch and I wanted a much chunkier wrist strap to match the big face as well. I headed to my local watch shop where they were more than happy for me to try out, free of charge, a few different wider straps on the watch face. Sadly none of them looked right on the much shallower watch face that the DZ7264 has. I did try out several bands as I had gone in to the store on a much quieter day, so I definitely wasn’t rushed in the process. The fiancee was present to give a second opinion but still no winners even for her.
Diesel DZ7264 watch
After abandoning the search for a better strap I came to the conclusion that the wristbands that came with the watch were the best ones for the watch. That includes colour, width and thickness as well. In a way, it allowed the watch to have it’s own fully different character which can be very hard to achieve for a manufacturer between their own product models. Most end up looking too similar to each and I am glad that this is not the case with the DZ7264 and the DZ4273, though there are similarities.
Speaking of which the Diesel DZ7264 watch does have all those other product and service features, like being water proof and a good warranty, that one would expect from a Diesel watch. A top shelf watch that doesn’t cost a bomb for how good it looks in the watch range it competes in, the Diesel DZ7264 is just made better.
